I now know what it feels like to be that mom where the kid tells you the night before that they need 30 cupcakes for their class the next day 💁🏼‍♀️🙈 last night my oh so wonderful bf tells me that he has a “spam potluck” at work today and needs to bring a dish with spam in it.. we’ll, I’m pretty much convinced everything is better with guacamole, so this morning I whipped up this fried spam bruschetta topped with my {famous} homemade guacamole and bacon bits.. I have to admit, spam never tasted so good. It’s got a little flare from many of the places I’ve lived.. a touch of northwest, a little Texas and a whole lotta Tennessee 🙌❤️🎉 #bruschetta #spam #southernfood #friedspam #everythingisbetterwithbacon #homemadeguacamole #guacisextra #tennesseelife #northwestcoast #texmex #lastminute #quickmeals #lovemyboyfriend

The Kolus or Young Thunderbird by Vince Shaughnessy The Native Thunderbird Symbol represents power, protection and strength. He is often seen as the most powerful of all spirits and can also transform into human form by opening his head up like a mask and taking his feathers off as if they were a mere blanket. Under his wings are lightning snakes, which he uses as his tool or weapon. The Thunderbird is a mythical creature that is said to be the dominating force of all natural activity. Located in the Pacific North Western Mountains, the Thunderbird creates booms of thunder by flapping his wings, and shoots bolts of lightning from his eyes, when hunters got too close to his home. This Young Thunderbird by Vince Shaughnessy, from the Kwakwaka´wakw or Kwakiutl Nation, The Kolus or Young Thunderbird Mask is made of Red Cedar & Rabbit Fur. #Mask #Cedar #Art #NativeArt #NorthwestCoast #NorthwestCoastArt #AboriginalArt #IndigenousArt #FirstNations #AuthenticIndigenous #CanadianArt #WestCoast #PNW #PhotoofTheDay #InstaGood #VancouverIsland #ComoxValley #ArtWork #WoodCarving #Wood #BritishColumbia #WestCoastArt #Kwakwakawakw #Kwakiutl #Thunderbird #Kolus

Happy Indigenous Peoples Day. I had the absolute honor of tattooing Mike Hoyt, who’s Łingit names are Aak’wtaatseen and Ghashxh. We tattooed Yéil Naa Aankháawu S’áaxw, the Nobel Raven Hat on his arm. It’s the clan hat of the Teeyhittaan from Shx’at Khwáan, Stikine River People, which came to the Teeyhittaan as a payment from a Tsimshian clan, which makes it an extra special for me as Tsimshian, to bring this Tattoo to life for him. The above left picture is him and his Grandmother, Ethel Lund as he was he was made Clan leader and the picture on the right is the previous clan leader, William Paul with Yéil Naa Aankháawu S’áaxw. I cannot express what an honor this was for me. I love Inuit art, especially carved wood pieces. This art is made by the indigenous peoples inhabiting the Arctic regions of Greenland, Canada and Alaska. This eagle sculpture just sends me- there is so much magic in him. #northwestcoast #inuit #eagle #indigenous #eskimo #alaskanart #Canada #Greenland #artislife #culture #lovemyneighbors
